Abstract

English

Inequalities in access to higher education in France are due to several factors, including counselling practices within secondary schools, which are the focus of this article. Using qualitative data from Parisian Lycées, the author analyzes these practices in relation to two main dimensions: the “channelling” of students’ choices, and the monitoring of their projects. She shows significant differences between schools which are likely to increase the gap between social groups.
